Enlil Lux earrings
Origin of the name
Enlil is an ancient god associated with wind, air, earth and storms. The main deity of the Sumerian pantheon, but was later worshiped by the Akkadians, Babylonians, Assyrians and Hurrians. According to one of the Sumerian hymns, Enlil himself was so sacred that even the other gods could not look at him.
It plays an important role in the Sumerian creation myth - it separates An (heaven) from Ki (earth), making the world inhabitable for humans. In the Sumerian deluge myth, Enlil rewards Ziusudra with immortality for surviving the deluge.
